So what?

While revising my analysis chapter, one problem I constantly stumble over is the: so what?

I describe field work and categorize data and show the indications to the concepts of the data, yet … or but … I am having trouble to explain the so what? What does this mean for the field, for the research questions, the research overall. What are further implications? Further research suggestions?

Sounds all pretty straight forward, however (yes, yet another form of ‘but’) I feel like committing fraud trying to make all these assumptions from my research. I know I have fantastic data, I know I could and should interpret more rigidly – still to what extent can I really publicize these assumptions? Where do I get guidelines from? Or is it all really up to the ethnographer?
